The storied historical landmark Beverly Hills Hotel, a Dorchester Collection five-star luxury hotel, sought to add two luxurious bungalows to the property. With architecture and design by Gensler and Rottet Studios, the scope of work for this project included new construction of two 3-key private bungalows. Amidst a private and tranquil residential setting, the bungalows are each built with a private garden and lap pool. Constructed on a raised deck, formerly used as tennis courts, significant structural support and reinforcements were made all the way down four levels below the slab to the foundation. The bungalows themselves are equipped with the latest technology in regards to room automation and audio-visual capabilities further enhancing the luxury guest experience. The project team has helped preserve the heritage of the iconic hotel by incorporating complimentary elements into the overall design, maintaining historic design features and architectural details.
The location of the site, with close proximity to residential areas, as well as full occupancy of the hotel, presented numerous challenges and considerations with regard to noise, site access, crane location and staging. Beginning in the early stages of Pre-Construction, our project team carefully coordinated with property operations to schedule and plan construction activities in a manner that would accommodate planned hotel meetings, events, non-working hours and other special considerations. Extensive barricade, staging, and path of travel plans were developed to minimize disruption to hotel guests and service staff as the hotel has continued to remain fully operational and occupied throughout the project.
